CASTLETON 2026. Invicta out in force to kick off the season!

For buhurt, Invicta fielded two teams at Castleton. Invicta 1 fought their way through a stacked field to take the silver🥈, proving these horses have not grown rusty in the stable over winter. The hunger to claim gold again grows...

Invicta 2 was made up almost entirely of Passage of Arms 2025 graduates. While they might have competed on different teams then, they came together under one banner at Castleton and fought like a unit. Against a very competitive field, they did the club proud with solid teamwork and grit 💪🏼

In duelling, Invicta had duellists across all disciplines and this year, the standard was high! And Invicta still made the podium:
Seb 🥈 in longsword
George 🥈 in polearm
Andy 🥉 in polearm

And finally, a huge shoutout to our support crew. Two long days of hail, sun, wind, and everything in between... and you made sure every fighter could step into the list at their best. We couldn’t do it without you 🖤🩶

Passage of Arms is a tournament for newer fighters to test their skills in both buhurt and duelling. This year we're running 5v5 buhurt, with 8 fighters per team.

Can't fill a full team? No problem, you can sign up as a partial team or even as an individual fighter, and we'll combine you with others to build full teams.

Greg has received his Invicta belt number! He is #33.

Greg joined Invicta in late 2024 and began competing in 2025, with one of the most impromptu debuts we’ve seen. He wasn’t even meant to fight at Tournament of Deeds (tier 2) last year, but stepped in to merc for Norwich when they were short on numbers. That team went on to take second place, and Greg was awarded Will to Win for his efforts! 🏆

He’s since fought at Passage of Arms with the Barnbarians and most recently represented Invicta 2 at Heritage Shield.

Coming from a HEMA background, Greg naturally favours longsword duelling. But he’s quickly developed a taste for buhurt too, enjoying the chaos of group fights and the chance to mix up weapons depending on the occasion.

We’re very glad our gentle giant found his way to Invicta (yes, he's that tall even next to the rest of the Invicta team!)

Our first session at our new venue in Caterham was a success. 30+ fighters broke in the list with both soft-kit and steel, covering drills, duels, group fights, and profights, their fighting experience ranging from 10+ years to their first session!

It might have been raining outside, but we wouldn't know - because we finally have a permanent venue indoors 🙏🏼 this has been a long time coming and we thank all of our members for being patient while we sorted out the venue that would be the perfect longtime fit for our club - and an additional thanks to everyone who helped set the venue up last week 💪🏼

New Invicta and Knightmares vice captains!

The Knightmares have appointed their first ever vice captain, JD. Also known as Just Destroy, she led her Passage of Arms team to victory earlier this year and is excited to continue that work in official capacity alongside captain Bruna next year ⭐

Invicta welcomes George as new vice captain! George's cool head and immovability on the wing has earned him the nickname the Fridge, and he's represented Invicta nationally and internationally this season. He's also a mentor within the team, coaching the Invicta Wyverns team at Passage of Arms this year and seeing two of his polearm duelling disciples win gold there too! 🪓 George shares the vice captaincy with Ben R, and Rowland continues as captain.

As George steps into the role, Invicta also wants to recognise Jacob for his brilliant work as vice captain these past couple of years: being an indomitable presence at tournaments, leading Thursday training sessions, and guiding the Invicta Good Knights to a great Passage win. Thank you, Jacob!

Celestine started training with Invicta Knightmares in September last year, and has shown huge growth - not just in duelling and grappling skills, but also in confidence levels and driving momentum in the list. She's fought with the Knightmares at Deeds and Clargalway (where she brought home medals in sword and buckler 🥇, sword and shield 🥇, and longsword 🥉!) She was also part of the team in Passage of Arms, where the Knightmares came in joint first place - and Celestine secured the silver in the sword and shield category!

The Knightmares are very lucky to have her - and her glorious potato horse! 🖤🩶

With a dangerous combination of ambition, dedication to training, and background in rugby and BJJ, he has become a real threat in the list. He's smashed several tournaments in his first season - Gathering in the North, Deeds (where he fought in both the tier 1 and 2 tournaments), Passage of Arms, Clargalway, and most notably joining Invicta 1 in their victory at Heritage Shield! Outside of buhurt, he's also won a couple of gold medals in sword and shield (and a polearm silver at Clargalway!), and he's one to watch out for in profights too. Is there anything he can't do? (Maybe longsword)

His dedication to the club also earned him the title of Loxwood Knight this year ⭐

We're very happy to have him on the team - both in the list and as newly appointed secretary of the club!

Our first Invicta Quartermaster will be Alastair!
4) Two Invicta fighters and one Knightmare received their official belt numbers! Congratulations Steve, Andy, and Celestine!
5) There were a number of awards handed out for achievements over the last year - we will cover these in separate posts!

The AGM also serves as a celebration of how the club has grown over the last year - we’re continuing to grow our membership numbers and have solid engagement and enthusiasm in the club! We also keep going to more tournaments (in the UK and abroad), draw bigger crowds at Loxwood Joust, get more signups for Passage of Arms, and see improvement in the performance of our teams - 2026 is going to be a strong year for us!

AGM 2025 📝

It’s time for our Annual General Meeting. Over the course of the year we have celebrated lots of wins, lots of almost wins, and many many successes from across the team. 🏦 First, Ben B, who has been our treasurer for longer than he can count on his fingers. A keen eye for detail and a steady hand has seen the club’s finances run smoothly across the board. He’s balanced this with qualifying as a marshal and working hard to ensure the running of events across the country, representing not just Invicta but the crew in yellow, too. We’re grateful for every moment of your hard work, and every check-in at the end of each Presidium meeting.

🪶 Second, Glenn, our secretary. Meetings have had the soundtrack of Glenn’s keyboard in the background this year and last, and after two years in the position he is stepping back to focus on marshalling and taking his duelling to the next level. His work has been impressive and his minutes meticulous, and he hasn’t stopped for a second, not only attending events as a fighter, but marshalling tournaments after his qualification at Ledbury in 2024.

📸 And finally, Kit! If you’ve DM’d us on Instagram, emailed the PR address or if you’ve checked out our website, then you’ve probably come into contact with her as she’s been the PR machine for the year. Never a fighter but with an eye for those ‘moments’ big or small, her camera has sat in her hand from the start to the finish, and the club is glad to have had her support setting up more online content than we’ve ever had before.

All there’s left to say is ‘So long, and thanks for all the fish*’

AGM 2025 📝

It’s time for our Annual General Meeting. Over the course of the year we have celebrated lots of wins, lots of almost wins, and many many successes from across the team. But before we get to those we wanted to thank the members of the Presidium who have worked so hard to support the running of the club but are stepping down this year.

DREAMING OF SUMMER

As the nights draw in and the weather gets colder we keep asking ourselves what we do it for - the training, the long drives, the early mornings in the gym and the late nights at our midweek training.

The answer, of course is the thrill of the chase, the impact, and occasionally being in the middle of the pack with a smorgasbord of people to hit. 🛡️

MEN’S PASSAGE OF ARMS - FINAL STANDINGS

Maths isn’t our strongpoint, but we’ve finally counted the scores. In the lead up to our AGM in November, we’ll be posting some of our biggest successes across the year.

First and foremost, all five of our teams taking the top spots at our Passage of Arms tournament. The Good Knights smashed everything they touched, including taking home plenty of medals in the duelling disciplines and storming home in the teamed meat grinder to lead the way by a 5 point margin. They definitely made their captain, Jacob, proud.

Coming in second and third were two of our barn teams who had been trained hard by their captains Bruna and Ben R. They showed heart in all of their disciplines.

Special mention to our 4th place team - the Invicta Wyverns, who made the final 3 of the buhurt tournament.

We’re grateful for every team who fought at the tournament, those who travelled to support and marshal and those who came to cheer us on. Looking forward to next year, @loxwood_joust!
