Seeing the sport for the first time can raise a lot of questions. Check below for some answers or drop us a message via the 'contact us' box below and we'll answer as best as we can.

Is It Safe?

As with any combat sport, injuries can happen. We take every possible precaution to keep our fighters safe. Our weapons are blunted, our marshals are highly trained and we teach our fighters the importance of control. In soft kit or armour, you are always protected one way or the other.

Who Can Join?

Buhurt is a sport for everyone! We train in a mixed capacity but official tournaments are separated between men and women's categories.

Armoured combat is reserved for those aged 18 or over, but from age 16 you can join our soft-kit training with parental consent.

Do I need Previous Experience?

No experience in fighting or fitness is necessary, though with armour on, round can be quite strenuous.

Our training will help everyone achieve their best performance at their own pace.

Do I Need to Buy Equipment?

To start training, there's no need to buy. The club provides soft kit equipment at training, and we'll let you know when you're ready to borrow armour - then you can consider buying your own.

So this is Re-Enactment, or LARP, right?

Definitely not! LARP and re-enactment often begin with a pre-determined storyline, and the weapons in LARP are frequently fantastical - unlike our real steel. We also do not choreograph our battles in the same way as re-enactment - we are an internationally recognised sport, and as such are highly competitive in the list.
